50 Hospitals Warned Over Urology Treatment Denial to RGHS Beneficiaries

Jaipur: Fifty hospitals across Rajasthan have been issued show-cause notices by the Rajasthan State Health Assurance Agency (RSHAA) for booking significantly lower urology-related treatment packages under the Rajasthan Government Health Scheme (RGHS).

The agency has warned that failure to provide a satisfactory response may result in these hospitals being de-panelled from the scheme.

RSHAA Chief Executive Officer Harjeelal Atal said that while a substantial number of hospitals are providing urology treatments under RGHS, a recent review revealed that these 50 hospitals had consistently booked fewer urology packages, despite high patient demand. In the last month alone, approximately 9,000 patients received urology-related care under the scheme.

Atal further noted that some hospitals and urology associations have raised concerns about the current package rates, demanding an increase. However, he clarified that the existing RGHS rates are aligned with those under the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS), and therefore, refusing treatment on the grounds of package pricing is unjustified.

Speaking to TOI, he said that any stakeholder can visit the office to discuss any issue or problem related to the scheme, but it is not appropriate to deny treatment to beneficiaries according to the provisions of the scheme. Strict action will be taken against hospitals that are reluctant to provide treatment, as per the rules.

Gayatri Rathore, Principal Secretary of the Medical and Health Department, stated that the Medical and Health Department is continuously taking necessary steps towards the smooth functioning of the RGHS scheme. Necessary action has been taken by taking timely decisions on matters including payments to hospitals, package rates, and other matters. She stated that it is being ensured that all stakeholders, including the beneficiaries of the scheme, do not face any problems. However, if any hospital refuses to provide treatment without a valid reason, action will be taken as per the rules, reports Amarujala.
