Telangana former Health Minister alleges negligence over decomposed bodies at Jadcherla Hospital

Mahabubnagar: The alleged decomposition of bodies at the mortuary of Jadcherla Government Hospital in Telangana has drawn criticism from former state Health Minister C. Laxma Reddy, who accused the Congress government of administrative negligence and demanded urgent measures to ensure uninterrupted electricity and improve hospital facilities.
Expressing concern over the condition of the mortuary at the 100-bed government hospital, the former minister alleged that power disruptions had contributed to the situation. He said the authorities had a responsibility to ensure that deceased persons were preserved properly and handed over to their families with dignity.
“Handing over decomposed bodies to grieving families due to sheer negligence is truly despicable,” he said, criticising the alleged failure to maintain basic facilities at the hospital.
Reddy also referred to previous incidents of alleged lapses at government hospitals, including reports of stray dogs attacking bodies and interruptions in electricity supply. He questioned why such problems continued to arise and alleged that the government had failed to address deficiencies in healthcare infrastructure and services, Telangana Today reported.
Demanding immediate intervention, the former minister called on the state government to ensure a reliable power supply at Jadcherla Government Hospital and take corrective steps to prevent similar incidents. He also sought improvements in the hospital's infrastructure and medical services.
He further stressed that maintaining basic facilities such as reliable electricity should be a priority at government hospitals, given their role in serving patients and families who depend on public healthcare services. He called for accountability from the authorities concerned.
The incident has brought attention to the importance of maintaining essential facilities at government hospitals, particularly mortuaries, where proper preservation of bodies is necessary to ensure dignity for the deceased and their families.
