UP: Etah Medical College reels under shortage of Essential drugs
Agra: The patients have been complaining that they are unable to get free prescribed medicines from the Etah Medical College for the past two weeks due to the unavailability of medicines.
Several patients have been complaining about the issue at the hospital. Angered by the situation, a diabetic patient, Vimal Gautam told TOI that Last month also I was able to get only three medicines out of four the four prescribed by the doctor. I'll now have to go to a medical shop to buy the ones I couldn't find at the hospital. The authorities must make sure the medicines that are prescribed by the doctors are available here."

Upon asking the reason behind the unavailability of medicines, the college said that due to a lack of funds the college was unable to keep the stock and provide free medicines to the patients.
After checking the hospital record, it came to light that nearly 80% of essential medicines are unavailable. Regular healthcare medicines for skin, neurology, cardiology, ENT, antibiotics, and syrups for children were included.
The administrative officer of the Etah medical college, Dr. Ashok Kumar assured that the college has informed the higher authorities about the situation and soon the matter will be under control.
Dr. Kumar said, "For now, there is a shortage of medicines. Due to the lack of funds, we are facing a problem. The matter has been brought to the notice of higher authorities. It will be resolved very soon".
A daily wager patient, Khetpal Singh said, "I have excruciating nerve pain near my left ear. The doctor at the medical college has prescribed two medicines for it, which aren't available at the hospital's pharmacy. Instead, they are offering a pain relief ointment that is not required. I came to the medical college as I am a daily wager and cannot afford to spend money on my treatment."
