UP to launch Telemedicine Service at 972 CHCs
Uttar Pradesh Plans Telemedicine Initiative
Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has announced plans to provide specialist doctor consultations at Community Health Centers (CHCs) across the state under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. The initiative, slated for launch in the 2025-26 financial year aims to enhance healthcare accessibility.
Medical Dialogues had previously reported that to strengthen telemedicine services in the state, the Uttar Pradesh government is planning to introduce a scheme under which people, especially those living in far-flung areas, can seek medical consultations by simply dialling a number. Under the scheme, the state is being divided into five clusters and control rooms will be established in five prominent cities, Health Minister Sidhartha Nath Singh said here.

According to Jagran, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed that all state medical colleges be connected with Sanjay Gandhi PGI, KGMU, and Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences through telemedicine. Currently, Ayushman Arogya Mandirs already provide telemedicine services, benefiting approximately 75,000 patients daily through government hospital doctors.
Under the new scheme, specialist doctors will offer medical consultations via telemedicine at 972 CHCs across Uttar Pradesh. The initiative allows specialist doctors to provide consultations remotely, enabling CHC doctors and staff to get expert guidance on patient treatment. Serious or complicated cases will receive expert medical advice through the telemedicine system
The Uttar Pradesh government has allocated Rs 5 crore in the 2025-26 budget for the development and implementation of this telemedicine initiative. A comprehensive action plan is currently being developed, with the selection of an agency to operate under the PPP model. Over time, the service is expected to expand from CHCs to Primary Health Centers (PHCs), extending its reach to even more remote areas.
