Woman dies after childbirth complications at Jamtara Hospital, family alleges negligence
A 20-year-old woman died after developing complications following a C-section at a private hospital in Jamtara, prompting her family to allege medical negligence and stage a protest.
Jamtara: A 20-year-old woman died following complications after a caesarean delivery at a private hospital in Jamtara, Jharkhand, with her family alleging medical negligence and seeking an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.
The woman, a resident of Bhandaro village under Jamtara town police station limits, was admitted to a private hospital in Jamtara on August 21 for childbirth and delivered a baby boy.
According to her family, her condition worsened after a blood vessel was allegedly damaged during the surgical procedure. She was subsequently referred to a higher medical facility on the night of August 22, the relatives said.

The woman was subsequently referred to a hospital in Dhanbad for further treatment. Despite receiving medical care, she died from complications on Monday night, reports the Times of India.
According to her family, the private hospital had fixed the total cost of the delivery and post-operative care at Rs 28,000, of which Rs 22,000 had already been paid at the time of admission.
Following her death, the woman’s family members brought her body back to the hospital on Tuesday and staged a protest, alleging that the hospital management had failed to provide a satisfactory explanation about her treatment.
The protest later escalated, with the relatives blocking the Dumka-Jamtara road near Udalbani for several hours. The protesters demanded action against those they held responsible for the woman's death.
Jamtara Civil Surgeon Dr S K Mishra said he was unaware of the incident but assured that the matter would be examined. He added that appropriate action would be taken if any negligence was found on the part of the hospital.
Meanwhile, Jamtara SDPO Wasim Raja said police personnel had been deployed at the site of the blockade and were working to restore normal traffic movement.
