Major Relief: MBBS medicos of Glocal, GCRG medical colleges to be shifted other colleges
Lucknow: With the Medical Council of India (MCI) giving its nod to the transfer of 2016- 2017 batch MBBS students of Glocal Medical College and GCRG Institute of Medical Sciences, the Directorate of Medical Education and Training Uttar Pradesh (UP DGME) has moved towards the counselling of the students.
The UP DGME has released the schedule for the concerned students to get their respective allotment letters as well as the affidavit mandatorily to be signed by them before admission to other medical colleges.
Medical Dialogues had been reporting about the case of both the medical colleges.
Glocal Medical College
Earlier last year, the students of the 2016-17 batch had approached the Allahabad High Court seeking transfer to another medical college in the UP since there was no infrastructure for their teaching and training in the MBBS course. There were complaints standing in relation to the forged records including surgeries, IPDs, OPDs, attendance records being uploaded on the MCI web site with patients being admitted at the time of inspection and faculties.
With the college being denied repeated permissions, the medicos demanded that they be transferred to other medical colleges in the state

GCRG Medical College
The medical college, affiliated to Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Awadh University (Ayodhya) and managed by GCRG group of institutions received MCI approval for MBBS course in 2016 and was permitted for the intake of 150 seats. The 2016 batch is the first and the only batch that got MCI approval wherein the MBBS students got admission via NEET. However, soon after, the institute was denied permission from the Centre for admitting candidates for two academic years ie. 2017-18 and 2018-19 and authorised the Medical Council of India to encash the bank guarantee for Rs 2 crore.
Transfer
The matter of the medicos transfer soon reached the MCI desk with the council being asked to examine and permit their transfer.
In a meeting held last year, the Board of Governors under Supersession of MCI (MCI BoG) considered the proposal subject to a withdrawal of the Essentiality Certificate of the Glocal Medical College and GCRG Institute of Medical Sciences (batch 2016-2017) and submission of proposal for reallocation of the Students in other medical colleges by the State of Uttar Pradesh.
Finding merit in the applications of the students, the MCI agreed to transfer the medicos to other medical colleges in the state
Now, pursuant to the approval, the UP DGME has issued the schedule for the students to get their allotment letters for the colleges they would be shifted to.
