Mumbai doctor alleges Rs 3.49 lakh gold jewellery stolen from residence, FIR registered
Mumbai: The Vikhroli police have registered a theft case after a 27-year-old doctor suspected his household worker of allegedly stealing gold ornaments worth Rs. 3.49 lakh from his residence.
According to the police, the incident occurred on December 13th at the doctor's home in the Godrej Hillside Colony, Vikhroli (West), between 6:20 PM and 6:45 PM. The 27-year-old doctor had hired the worker, through the domestic help platform named kaamwalibais.com on December 3, paying her Rs. 8,850 for her services. The woman was primarily employed to care for the doctor's grandmother and assist with cleaning tasks around the house.

On the day of the alleged theft, the doctor noticed his gold bracelet on the study table at 2:04 PM before leaving home at 5:30 PM with his sister. During their absence, the only people at the residence were the accused domestic worker and the elderly grandmother. When the doctor returned home around 11:45 PM, he discovered that the gold bracelet was missing from the study table. Upon further inspection, the family found that other gold ornaments, including two bracelets, two necklaces, and a pair of earrings, were also missing from the locker.

As per the latest media report in Free Press journal, based on the timing and circumstances, the family suspects the theft was committed by the household worker. The Park Site Police have registered an FIR under Section 305(a) of the BNS Act against Geeta Gadge, and the police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
Medical dialogues had earlier reported that the city police arrested a 22-year-old man in Balasore district for allegedly stealing jewellery worth over ₹70 lakh from a Bengaluru doctor's house, where he had been employed as a domestic help, police said on Wednesday.
