West Bengal Hospitals Directed to pay equal stipend to DNB, FNB trainees by NBE
Kolkata: In a recent direction to its accredited hospitals and institutes in West Bengal, the National Board of Examinations (NBE) has ordered them to pay an equal stipend to its DNB, FNB trainees as per the NBE stipend guidelines.
In accordance with NBE stipend guidelines dated 02-04-2019, all NBE accredited hospitals shall have to pay the DNB/FNB trainee a basic stipend as prescribed by NBE or basic stipend according to the state government policy (whichever is higher).
Moreover, as per Memorandum dated 8th June 2020 issued by Special Secretary, Department of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of West Bengal, the stipend to be paid to the Postgraduate and Postdoctoral trainees in state medical teaching institutions & hospitals has been re-fixed.
The memorandum states:
In view of the implementation of West Bengal Services (Revision of Pay & Allowances) Rules, 2019, enhancement of the monthly stipends to the Interns, House-staffs, Post graduate Trainees and Post doctoral trainees in State Medical Teaching Institutions & Hospitals was under active consideration of the State Government for some time past.
2. Now, the undersigned is directed to convey that the Governor is pleased to re-fix w.e.f. 01.01.2020 the monthly stipend of a) Interns @ of 50% of "Reckonable amount" of Rs. 56100 (minimum pay of WBHS/WBDS of Rs.56100/-+ D.A of Rs.0/-) and b) (i) House staff/ 1 st year PG Trainee, (ii) 3 r d year PG Trainee, (iii) 3 rd year PG Trainee, (iv) 1 St year PD Trainee (v) 2 nd year PD Trainee and (vi) 3 rd year PD Trainee @65%, 70%, 75%, 80%,85%. & 90% respectively of the "Reckonable amount" of Rs 673201- (minimum pay of WBHS/WBDS of Rs. 56100+NPA of Rs. 11220/- being 20%+ D.A. of Rs. 0/-). Such Stipend will be enhanced as and when any installment of D.A. is declared by the Government.
In view of the aforementioned guidelines as well as the memorandum, the NBE has directed the state hospitals to pay equivalent stipend to the DNB and FNB trainees. The authority ordered:
"Accordingly, all NBE accredited hospitals/institutions in West Bengal are required to pay the revised stipend in accordance with the orders issued by the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of West Bengal."
The revised stipend payable to the DNB trainees shall be applicable from 01-06-2020.
