Rajasthan: CS conducts interviews of 28 Doctors for SMS Medical College Principal Post
Jaipur: Twenty-eight applicants have been interviewed for the post of principal at SMS Medical College by a committee led by chief secretary Usha Sharma, as the tenure of the current principal of the college, Dr Sudhir Bhandari, would end on July 4.
The Times of India reports that around 37 doctors had been found eligible for the post out of which only 28 had appeared for the interviews, said the sources. Thus, the 28 doctors from four medical colleges were shortlisted for the position.

The applications were invited by the Medical Education Department, which had received applications from 40 doctors, out of which 37 were found eligible for the post. As per a media report in the First India, the selection committee comprised RUHS Vice-Chancellor Dr Sudhir Bhandari, Principal Secretary (Medical Education) Vaibhav Galaria, Principal Secretary (Personnel) Hemant Gera besides Chief Secretary Usha Sharma.
Further, the committee would be sending their recommendations to the state government after taking the interviews.
The government's rule states that a doctor could remain in an administrative post up to the age of 62, whereas one can continue their service as a doctor up to the age of 65.
The committee is reported to have discussed some important issues and upcoming projects of SMS Medical College since the state government is paying special attention to healthcare and making healthcare facilities accessible to all by making the OPD and IPD facilities free of cost in government hospitals. Some of the questions posed to the candidates include how they would manage the increasing crowd at the hospital, and about the expanding healthcare facilities for patients, reports the TOI.
Further, the candidates were also asked about the IPD tower, cancer institute, OPD, and IPD services and their vision for the development of the hospital. The committee also asked for a plan on how the doctors would work to promote the PPP model in the hospital. The doctors were given three to four minutes to present their views before the committee.
