Tamil Nadu Medical Council Election 2023: Council informs on process of withdrawing candidature, details
Chennai: Through a recent notice Tamil Nadu Medical Council (TNMC) has notified about the withdrawal from TNMC elections for members under section 5(1) (F) that will be held in the upcoming year.
The format for withdrawal of election candidature is now available in the Council's website. The doctors who wishes to withdraw their candidature for the elections need to write to the Registrar cum Returning Officer of the Council.
Further the letter should also include the TNMC Registration Number, qualification and address of the doctor. The withdrawal form mentions, "I have nominated as a Candidate on …………………………for the Elections called for by Tamil Nadu Medical Council. Now, due to personal reasons, I am withdrawing my candidature from the Elections on my own decision. Kindly accept my withdrawal of nomination."
The council has further mentioned in the notice that the "Hard Copy of this form duly filled have to be submitted to the returning officer in person by the candidate or through an authorised Registered Medical Practitioner. In addition a scanned copy shall be submitted by mail to elections@tamilnadumedicalcouncil.org from the email address stated in the nomination form."
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that TNMC had earlier informed all the doctors in the State about the upcoming election of the State Medical Council in January/February 2023.
Announcing about the upcoming election next year, the Council notice stated, "In accordance with the rule 2 in regard to the Elections to the Tamilnadu Medical Council, Chennai under Clause (f) of sub-section (1) of Section 5 of the Madras Medical Registration Act, 1914 (Act IV of 1914) as amended by the Madras Medical Registration (Amendment) Act XVI of 1938, notice is hereby given that an election of Seven members of the Council will have to be held in the month of January / February 2023."
In this regard, the Council had also informed the doctors about its decision of updating the Electoral Roll and directed them to furnish their change of address through Tamil Nadu Medical Council Portal.
