115 hospital pharmacies in Telangana receive show cause notices

Show Cause Notice
Telangana: A total of 115 pharmacies located in or attached to various corporate hospitals across Telangana have received show cause notices.
The Drugs Control Administration, Telangana, conducted a special drive on 20th September, 2025, to verify the practices of pharmacies in various corporate hospitals across the State. During the special drive, officers of the Drugs Control Administration detected several irregularities in 115 pharmacies situated within or attached to various corporate hospitals across the state.
The irregularities reported included the dispensing of prescription medicines in the absence of a Registered Pharmacist; non-maintenance and failure to produce sales bills of medicines; failure to maintain prescription drug registers and Schedule H1 drug registers; failure to produce purchase bills for medicines stocked in the pharmacies; sale of drugs without the prescription of a Registered Medical Practitioner; irregularities in the maintenance of copies of sales bills and purchase bills; failure to stock thermolabile drugs under the recommended storage conditions; stocking of Physician’s Samples; and the stocking of expired drugs along with saleable drugs in the pharmacies.
Show cause notices were issued to all 115 pharmacies located in or attached to various corporate hospitals in the state, and action shall be taken as per the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940, and the rules made thereunder.
