Amazon Storage Facilities Raided, Karnataka FDA Seizes Rs 4 Lakh Medicines From Unlicensed Units
Bengaluru: The Karnataka Food Safety and Drug Administration (FDA) has seized medicines worth more than Rs 4 lakh during raids at unlicensed e-commerce storage facilities in Anekal and Devanahalli, authorities said on Sunday.
The Drugs Enforcement Wing conducted simultaneous raids following intelligence inputs regarding illegal storage and distribution of pharmaceuticals at the two premises, they added.
The FDA, in a release, said it successfully raided unlicensed e-commerce storage facilities and seized large stocks of unauthorised medicines, describing the action as a swift, coordinated crackdown on the illegal storage and distribution of pharmaceuticals.
In Anekal, a team led by Assistant Drugs Controller Manohar of the State Intelligence Branch of FDA, along with regional Drugs Inspectors, raided the premises of M/s Amazon Seller Services Pvt. Ltd. at Thattanahalli in Anekal taluk. Medicines worth Rs 2,45,352 were seized for being stored without a valid drug licence, it said.
Separately, a team led by Drugs Inspector Vibha, Bangalore Rural, raided the M/s Amazon facility at Aerospace, Devanahalli, in Bengaluru Rural district, and seized medicines valued at Rs 1,57,000, according to the release.
The total value of medicines seized in the two raids was Rs 4,02,352. There was no immediate reaction from the concerned entities.
