AP: 35-year-old contract worker dies in accident at Pharma Unit
Parawada: A grievous mishap at a pharmaceutical unit in JN Pharma City, Parawada, unfolded on Tuesday, claiming the life of a 35-year-old contract worker, Kintada Raja Rao, a resident of Kannavanipalem in Chodavaram mandal.
Parawada Police Inspector Eswara Rao told The Hindu that the deceased had been an asset to the pharma unit for the past seven years.
The incident transpired around 12:30 p.m. when the deceased, stationed near a reactor, faced a perilous fall from a height. His head hit the reactor blades. In a swift response, he was transferred to a nearby private hospital. Despite the immediate medical attention, the deceased succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Following the grim incident, Parawada police have lodged a case. The calamity has also evoked a strong reaction from local union leaders. G Satyanarayana, a prominent figure from the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) and a member of Pharmacity Staff and Workers Union, has laid accusations of negligence against the pharma unit's management. In light of the tragedy, Satyanarayana has also demanded compensation of ₹1 crore to be awarded to Raja Rao's grieving family, spotlighting the alleged oversight as a catalyst for the fatal misfortune.
