Assistant Drug Controller Caught taking Rs 40k bribe to approve pharmacy license, arrested
Bengaluru: In a recent case of corruption in Bengaluru, Lokayukta police has nabbed an assistant drug controller while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000 from a pharmacist in exchange for approving his pharmacy license.
As reported recently by The Hindu, the accused official has been identified as Ajayraj D. Sha, who was caught red-handed accepting the bribe on November 4.
Sha allegedly demanded Rs 50,000 but ultimately agreed to lower the amount to Rs 40,000 to grant a license for the pharmacist, identified as Subramanya, to establish a wholesale pharmacy.

Acting on a complaint, Lokayukta officials detained Sha under the Prevention of Corruption Act and later conducted a search of his residence, reports The Hindu.
The Lokayukta, known for its anti-corruption efforts, has been actively addressing similar issues in the state.
Medical Dialogues team had reported a similar case a couple of months ago, where an Assistant Commissioner from Maharashtra's Food and Drugs Administration (FDA), Deepak Malpure, was caught by the Maharashtra Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000.
