Telangana: Drugs Control Administration, Telangana, has seized a banned drug, 'Medicated Skin Care Soap containing Permethrin IP 1.0%, Cetrimide IP 0.5% and Menthol IP 1.0 %’, in Karimnagar circulating illegally in the market.
Based on intelligence gathered regarding the circulation of banned drugs, officials from the Drugs Control Administration, Karimnagar Zone, conducted a raid on a medical shop named PLN Pharma Distributors in Karimnagar.
During the raid, they detected a banned drug, Dr. Ethix’s MediSkin Medicated Soap (containing Permethrin IP 1.0%, Cetrimide IP 0.5% and Menthol IP 1.0 %), illegally manufactured by Maxwell Pharma, Industrial Plot No. 6 & 7, Sector 5, Parwanoo, Solan, Himachal Pradesh, and manufactured for Dr. Ethix’s Products and Services Pvt. Ltd., Guindy, Chennai In 2018, the Government of India, in the larger public interest, prohibited the drug combination of Permethrin, Cetrimide, and Menthol, as the fixed-dose combination was found to lack therapeutic justification.
The Government of India prohibited the manufacture for sale, sale, and distribution for human use of this drug combination in the country on September 7th, 2018.
Sri. M. Srinivasulu, Assistant Director, Karimnagar and Sri. P. Karthik Bharadwaj, Drugs Inspector, Karimnagar were among the officers who carried out the raid.
Further investigation shall be carried out and action shall be taken as per the law against all the offenders.
