Counterfeit version of Sun Pharma Cholesterol lowering drugs worth Rs 3 lakhs seized in Hyderabad
Telangana: Drugs Control Administration, Telangana, has seized counterfeit versions of cholesterol-lowering drugs, 'Rosuvas F 20' and 'Rosuvas F 10' Tablets, worth Rs. 3 lakhs, which were falsely claimed to be manufactured by Sun Pharmaceutical Ind. Ltd.
Based on intelligence gathered by Drugs Control Administration officials, raids were conducted at several dealers in Inderbagh, Koti, Hyderabad. The raids lead to the detection of Spurious Drugs (Counterfeit Versions) ‘Rosuvas F 20’ and ‘Rosuvas F 10’ Tablets (Rosuvastatin and Fenofibrate Tablets) circulating in the market.
Rosuvas F 20 and Rosuvas F 10 Tablets are used to lower cholesterol and triglyceride levels in the blood and help prevent heart-related problems. A special team of officers of the Drugs Control Administration detected counterfeit stocks at two dealers, Ganga Pharma Distributors and Sri Nandini Pharma, located in Inderbagh, Koti.
A comparison statement for the suspected batches was obtained from the original manufacturer, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd., against the corresponding original batches. The manufacturer confirmed that the batches of ‘Rosuvas F 20’ and ‘Rosuvas F 10’ Tablets (Rosuvastatin and Fenofibrate Tablets) detected by the Drugs Control Administration were indeed “Counterfeit Drugs”.
"During the raids conducted on 19 th June, 2025 at Ganga Pharma Distributors, Inderbagh, Sultan Bazar, Koti and, Sri Nandini Pharma, Inderbagh, Koti, counterfeit versions of ‘Rosuvas F 20 Tablets’ (Rosuvastatin and Fenofibrate Tablets), Batch No.: SIF2736A, Mfg. Date: 12/2024, Exp. Date: 05/2027 and ‘Rosuvas F 10 Tablets’ (Rosuvastatin and Fenofibrate Tablets), Batch No.: SIF2676A, Mfg. Date: 12/2024, Exp. Date: 05/2027, and, falsely claimed to be manufactured by Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd., Plot No.107-108, Namli Block, P.O. Ranipool, Gangtok, Sikkim. Counterfeit Drugs worth Rs. 3 lakhs seized during the raids," the release stated.
A special team of officers constituted by the Drugs Control Administration, comprising Sri G. Sreenivas, Assistant Director, Medchal, Sri V. Ajay, Drugs Inspector, Goshamahal, Smt M. Hemalatha, Drugs Inspector, Gandimaisamma, Sri Raja Reddy, Drugs Inspector, Kamareddy, and Sri K. Murali Krishna, Drugs Inspector, Malkajgiri, carried out the raids and detected the counterfeit drug stocks.
Further investigation will be conducted, and appropriate action will be taken against all offenders.
