ED Jalandhar files prosecution complaint against medical shop owner for selling intoxicating tablets without bills
Jalandhar: The Directorate of Enforcement (ED), Jalandhar, has filed a prosecution complaint before the Special Court (PMLA), SAS Nagar (Mohali) under the provisions of Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002. The complaint has been lodged against Rajesh Kumar, the owner of Friends Medical Agency, a medical shop.
The Court has taken cognizance of the PC on 16.08.2024.
According to ANI report, ED initiated investigation on the basis of FIR registered by the Punjab Police under Section 22 of Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, against Rajesh Kumar.
ED investigation revealed that the accused was selling intoxicating tablets without bills. He was involved in the sale of these intoxicant drugs for a long time and had acquired movable and immovable properties through Proceeds of crime, i.e., drug money, according to the ED.
A provisional attachment order was issued attaching various movable/immovable properties aggregating to Rs. 1.37 crore (approx.) related to Rajesh Kumar and his family.
The said attachment was then confirmed by the Ld. Adjudicating Authority, New Delhi. Further investigation is under progress, said the agency.
