Health Ministry May Ban 2 Antibiotic Groups Carboxypenicillins, Phosphonic Acid Derivatives for Animal Use
New Delhi: The Union Health Ministry has published a draft notification proposing to prohibit the import, manufacture, sale, and distribution of carboxypenicillins and phosphonic acid derivatives and their formulations for animal use.
The draft has been issued under Section 26A of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940, after consultation with the Drugs Technical Advisory Board. It covers carboxypenicillins and phosphonic acid derivatives, along with their formulations, for animal use.

- Carboxypenicillins
- Phosphonic acid derivatives
The ministry has invited objections and suggestions from persons who may be affected. The draft will be considered on or after 30 days from the date on which copies of the Gazette containing it are made available to the public. Objections and suggestions received within that period will be considered by the Central Government.
