Himalaya unveils 'Happy Baby Zones' campaign during Breastfeeding Week
The campaign intends to encourage breastfeeding due to its numerous benefits for babies and mothers.
Bangalore: Himalaya BabyCare, a well-known baby care brand, has launched its mother and baby-centric campaign during Breastfeeding week. The campaign aims to raise awareness on the challenges faced by mothers while breastfeeding in public spaces and highlights the importance of creating comfortable and private environments for nursing babies. Additionally, Himalaya BabyCare has conducted 500 Nurses Education Programs across India, successfully training around 5000 nurses on baby and mom care and collaborated with over 20,000 doctors to raise awareness on breastfeeding.
The heartwarming campaign begins with powerful visuals showcasing the struggles mothers undergo while traveling with their babies. It portrays three mothers in different public settings trying to comfort their crying babies with love. However, the lack of appropriate spaces and the discomfort around them only adds to their distress.
A recent survey reveals that only 6% of mothers can find breastfeeding rooms while commuting or traveling. An overwhelming 81% of mothers feel uneasy about breastfeeding in public due to the absence of suitable spaces. Additionally, 36% of babies in India are not exclusively breastfed for the recommended six months, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
In a touching moment, the campaign takes a positive twist when a caring female hand appears and guides the mothers towards a solution. As they look in the pointed direction, their expressions change from sadness and worry to surprise, relief, and happiness. The mothers are led to Himalaya's ‘Happy Baby Zones’, specially created for breastfeeding and located across Airports, Railway Stations, and Hospitals.
The Happy Baby Zones, launched by Himalaya in 2012, have comforted over 12 lakh mothers in India, offering a safe, hygienic, and relaxing space with complete privacy for mothers to nurse their babies.
The campaign intends to encourage breastfeeding due to its numerous benefits for babies and mothers. Breastfeeding provides perfect nutrition for babies, aids brain development, and lowers the risk of diseases. For mothers, it reduces the risk of ovarian and breast cancer, prevents depression, and lowers the risk of diabetes.
Commenting on the campaign, Mr. Chakravarthi N V, Director – BabyCare, Himalaya Wellness Company, said, "At Himalaya BabyCare, the well-being of mothers and babies is top priority. With this campaign, we intend to break barriers and promote a breastfeeding-friendly society. Our 'Happy Baby Zones' are a testament of our commitment to creating a nurturing breastfeeding environment for mothers on the move. Together, let's make breastfeeding a hassle-free, comforting, and worry-free experience for all mothers."
