Rajouri: A large quantity of government-supplied medicines was discovered abandoned in a gorge near Budhkhanari in Darhal tehsil of Rajouri district, sparking outrage and prompting the authorities to launch an investigation.
The discarded medicines included tablets and syrups. According to the officials, some of the medicines were still within their validity period, raising questions about their disposal.
Clips of the dumped medicines have become widely circulated on social media.
As per the PTI report, local villagers claimed that a vehicle loaded with the medicines was emptied at the spot, and demanded appropriate action against the guilty.
Chief Medical Officer (Rajouri) Manohar Lal Rana said an inquiry had been ordered and assured strict action against the persons involved.
A three-member panel headed by the Darhal block medical officer has been set up to conduct an inquiry and identify the accused persons so that appropriate action can be taken against them, he added.

Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that Himachal Pradesh had opened its first drug testing laboratory in Baddi, bringing much-needed relief to the state's pharmaceutical sector. The facility, inaugurated by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu in March last year, can test between 8,000 and 10,000 samples annually.
