Merck announces Rs 17.85 crores caring aid to India for COVID relief
Mumbai: Merck has recently announced its support to India in combating the recent surge in Covid-19 cases.
With the country grappling with increasing number of cases of novel coronavirus and people facing shortage of oxygen cylinders, hospital beds and drug supplies, Merck has extended its support to help India in its fight against Covid-19 and has announced 2 million Euros (INR 17.85 crores) as a caring aid.
The aid is being utilized for procuring equipment of 250 oxygen concentrators, 100 ventilator units, and setting up oxygen generation plants in four hospitals.
"Merck India is working with state governments, government departments and non-profit service organizations managing Covid care for putting this aid to use of people who may be needing it the most. A part of this aid will also be utilised to procure medicines for emergency care of employees and their families," the company said.

As part of its regular CSR activities, Merck had earlier donated over 160,000 face masks, disinfectants and thermal temperature scanners to the frontline and health departments as well as dry rations to migrant worker families around its manufacturing sites. The company has also contributed to the state relief funds in the Karnataka and Maharashtra, and the PM Care fund, towards Covid relief.
