PCI Issues Special Inspection Guidelines for 2025-2026 academic session

Pharmacists Must Now Mandatorily Verify Profiles with ABHA Number: PCI

New Delhi: The Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) has recently issued a circular providing special guidelines for approved inspectors and pharmacy institutions regarding the inspection process for the 2025–2026 academic session.

This came in continuation of the circular dated 07.03.2025 regarding special guidelines regarding inspection of institutions for the academic session 2025-2026.

In this connection, the recent notice added that it has been come to the notice of PCI that:

1. The inspectors/institutions are not following the guidelines and circular of the council.

2. Inspectors are not submitting the picture of faculty with a valid QR Code generated smart card from the DIGI-PHARMed portal. Institutions must ensure that the valid arrangements are done prior to the Inspection and if the same are found not available during the Inspection, then the cost of Inspection will be levied by the institution.

3. Inspectors are recommended the approval for institutions which is not come under their purview. They have required to give their remarks on the facilities claimed by the institution only. Inspectors may restrict to their comments related to SIF, else the profile will be blocked from DIGI-PHARMed Portal.

4. In case of non-compliance with the instructions of the Council, the Inspector's TA/DA claim might be rejected along with the blocking of DIGI-PHARMed profile of such Inspectors, followed by legal action.

5. All inspectors must ensure that the QR code for each faculty is verified, and they must wear a proper QR code-based smart card while clicking a picture of the faculty during the inspection with a similar and clear background for all the faculty. The sample picture has been attached below to the notice. All pictures shall be captured at one designated place at the institution.

6. Dummy Principal and faculty are showing up at the institution. Inspectors are required to check the genuineness of faculty/principal, including their education qualification, experience, salary, etc. Failing which action as deemed fit shall be initiated by the PCI against the institution and the inspectors, including filing of FIR and blacklisting for 3 years from teaching, and PCI will also recommend to the State Pharmacy Council for cancellation of the registration.
