State Drug Alert: CDSCO Flags 288 Samples Including Thyrox, Mounjaro as NSQ in September
New Delhi: Continuing its nationwide surveillance of drug quality, the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) has flagged 288 drug, cosmetic, medical device and surgical product samples as Not of Standard Quality (NSQ), misbranded, spurious, or otherwise non-compliant with prescribed standards in its September 2026 state laboratory drug alert.
The alert covers antibiotics, antihypertensives, antiepileptics, thyroid medicines, analgesics, gastrointestinal preparations, respiratory formulations, vitamin and mineral supplements, injectable medicines, dialysis solutions, veterinary products, surgical dressings and cosmetics.
The reported failures concern parameters including assay, dissolution, disintegration, identification, content uniformity, uniformity of weight and dispersion, description, pH, sterility, bacterial endotoxins, particulate matter, related substances and labelling requirements.
Among the notable products flagged are Thyrox 100, Thyrox 50 and Thyrox 25 manufactured by Macleods Pharmaceuticals; Levera-500 manufactured by Intas Pharmaceuticals; Telma Beta 50 and Telma AM manufactured by Glenmark Pharmaceuticals; Olmetime-AMH40 manufactured by Mankind Pharma; and Omee capsules manufactured by Alkem Laboratories.
The list also includes six strengths of Mounjaro KwikPen—2.5 mg/0.6 ml, 5 mg/0.6 ml, 7.5 mg/0.6 ml, 10 mg/0.6 ml, 12.5 mg/0.6 ml and 15 mg/0.6 ml—with Eli Lilly’s Italian entity listed as the manufacturer and Eli Lilly and Company (India) Pvt. Ltd. as the importer.
Samples classified as spurious in the laboratory remarks include Cerejack diazepam injection, with Jackson Laboratories listed as the manufacturer; Talgesic buprenorphine injection, with Indus Pharma listed as the manufacturer; Nurokind LC/Nurokind-LC tablets, with Mankind Pharma listed as the manufacturer; Czinics Nano Shots vitamin D3 oral solution, with Gats Biotech listed as the manufacturer; and Ricmox-CV 625 tablets, with Alexa Pharmaceuticals listed as the manufacturer.
The alert further includes Ursocol 300 tablets and Clopilet A 75 capsules manufactured by Sun Pharma Laboratories; Gabapin-100, Veltam Plus and Veltam 0.4 tablets manufactured by Intas Pharmaceuticals; 1-AL levocetirizine tablets manufactured by FDC; Ostocalcium B12 Suspension manufactured by Naxpar Pharma; and Smuth Suspension manufactured by Aristo Pharmaceuticals.
Cosmetic samples flagged include Faiza Beauty Cream, with Poonia Brothers listed as the manufacturer, and Goree Beauty Cream, Goree Beauty Cream with Lycopene, and Goree Day & Night Beauty Cream, with Goree Cosmetics listed as the manufacturer. The findings relate to the specific samples and batches identified in the alert.
The findings were reported by laboratories across Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Tripura, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Puducherry, Jammu and Kashmir, Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab and Odisha.
