Nonpayment of Salaries: LNJP Doctors threaten Shutdown
New Delhi: More than 100 doctors attached to the renowned Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital (LNJP Hospital) the affiliated hospital of Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC) have threatened an indefinite strike and stopping the working at the Out-Patient Department (OPD) and also cancelling the routine surgeries at the medical institute.
The doctors initiated the protest against non-payment of salaries and arrears of the 7th pay commission since March this year.
The protesting medicos have demanded the concerned authorities to take action on the matter and give a written assurance in this regard. Until that the doctors have stated that they won’t resume back to duty.

The Resident Doctors’ Association, which is heading the strike has claimed that the administration is not taking the matter as serious as it is; since it is affecting the day to day life of the medicos, they have been left with no other option, then to resort to strike.
In a letter to the Medical Director, LNJP hospital, the RDA intimated about the resident strike from 29-4-2019 and stated, “We would like to inform you that even after repeated requests on our part to resolve the various problems faced by residents regarding their salary, no conclusive action has been taken yet. This has left us with no option but to go on a strike.”
“All routine services including ward, OPD and OT will be shut from 29-4-2019 and ICU services will be running,” the letter stated.
We would like to request you that our problems be resolved as soon as possible so that we residents not forced to go on the strike,” the letter signed by Dr Saikat Jena RDA President and Dr Hariskrishan RDA VP added.
