Dr T Dilip Kumar appointed as Indian Nursing Council's National President
Delhi: Dr T Dilip Kumar has recently been elected as the national president of the Indian Nursing Council. On the other hand, Dr Jogendra Sharma has been elected as the national vice-president of the Indian Nursing Council.
Elections for the posts of president and vice-president of the Indian Nursing Council were held in New Delhi a few days ago. Dr T Dilip Kumar secured victory against Dr Ramalinga Mali, former president of Maharashtra Nursing Council and Dr Sharma won the election defeating Dr Anne Grace, registrar of Nursing Council Tamil Nadu, reports the daily.

Dr T Dileep Kuma is a former Nursing Adviser for Govt. of India. He was the first Nursing Professional from India to become a Member of the Global Advisory Committee of WHO. In addition, he was also the Member of the Global Advisory Group on Nursing and Midwifery of WHO. He had a pivotal role in being the voice of Indian Nurses at a global level. He also contributed greatly to establish the state of art National Reference Simulation Centre (NRSC). Heralding from Karnataka, Dr T Dileep Kumar comes with a long-standing 43 years of experience in Nursing.
Dr Jogendra Sharma is currently serving as the Principal of Govt. College of Nursing, Jaipur. He has also served as the Dean (nursing) of Rajasthan University of Health Sciences Jaipur and the State President of the Trained Nurses Association of India (TNAI). Dr Sharma stated that as the vice-president, he will be focusing on developing amiable leadership qualities among nursing professionals. He further stated that it is crucial to fulfilling goals like sourcing high-quality nursing supplies from India, reviewing the nursing cadre, establishing pay grades comparable to those at AIIMS, and establishing minimum wage guarantees, reports Times of India. He is the first Vice President of North India Nursing who got appointed for the very post in the Indian Nursing Council.
The Indian Nursing Council is an Autonomous Body under the Government of India, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare was constituted by the Central Government under section 3(1) of the Indian Nursing Council Act, 1947 of parliament in order to establish a uniform standard of training for nurses, midwives, and health visitors and to conduct any kind of policy making in the field of nursing.
