Viral Video of nursing staff dancing during Christmas celebration at Telangana Hospital draws inquiry
Hyderabad: A video of nursing staff performing dance steps during a Christmas celebration at a government hospital in Telangana's Jagtial district has sparked controversy after going viral on social media. In response, Additional Collector Goutham Reddy ordered an inquiry into the matter.
In the viral video, around six nursing staff members were seen dancing in their uniforms while on duty. They were doing simple dance steps while holding a stick and with background music in a room inside the hospital premises.
In response, Additional Collector Goutham Reddy ordered an inquiry into the matter. He criticised the staff for dancing in uniforms, which he claimed had come across as improper action.
As per a Telangana Today news report, the nurses were dancing near the patients’ ward as they had no duty to perform on Friday. However, they stopped dancing when they noticed media persons. It is reported that the resident medical officer reportedly gave them permission due to lack of work.
The incident came to light when Additional Collector Goutham Reddy noticed the video on social media and decided to visit the hospital. During his visit, he conducted a preliminary investigation and became aware that the RMO permitted them.
Directing officials to conduct an investigation and take action accordingly, Reddy told the Daily, "It is not proper to perform dances while on duty on the pretext of lack of work."
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that a small celebration marking the promotion of four staff nurses of Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital has spelt out trouble for the participants after a video from the event went viral on social media showing on-duty doctors and other nursing staff dancing to Hindi songs within the hospital premises.
