Varanasi: A small celebration marking the promotion of four staff nurses of Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital has spelt out trouble for the participants after a video from the event went viral on social media showing on-duty doctors and other nursing staff dancing to Hindi songs within the hospital premises.
In response to the viral video, the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Varanasi Dr Sandeep Chaudhary has ordered an investigation into the matter after he criticised the doctors and nurses for dancing in uniforms in the hospital.

As per ABP news report, the doctors and medical staff were enjoying themselves to popular film songs to celebrate a promotion party of four staff nurses. In the video, the Chief Of Medical Staff and other officials could be seen dancing to loud Bollywood music in the seminar hall of the hospital. Some of them also can be seen wearing their official duty uniforms with their identity cards and enjoying the beats.
The move, has not gone well with the netizens. The ethical responsibility of the doctors and staff members has been called into question as 'X' users have expressed mixed reactions to the viral video. While some have supported them for enjoying amid duty pressure, some have criticised them for neglecting duties.
One user said 'Doctors have their own lives too', 'Nothing wrong with this' said another user. "Okay, everyone is free, there should be this much fun, everyone has the right to be happy in their own way," "What is wrong in this? Is there a Talibani rule in India that dancing and singing is banned? Dancing is going on in a civilized manner," - are some of the positive responses.
On the other hand, a user said "This is the health department of Uttar Pradesh. Why only the health department, the condition of almost all the departments is the same." Another user asked, "If the entire hospital staff is dancing then who is taking care of the patients??"
Responding to the viral video, the Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Dr Prem Prakash told Amarujala "I received the video on Whatsapp from several places on Wednesday afternoon. It was a promotion party for four staff nurses, in which employees were seen dancing. The concerned employees have been instructed not to do such a thing in future."
Meanwhile, CMO Dr Sandeep told the daily "It is wrong to do such activities in dress code in the hospital premises. An investigation will be conducted on the basis of the viral video. Action will also be taken against the culprits as per the rules."
