Vadodara: The Vadodara Crime Branch arrested a prominent city-based Neurosurgeon in Mumbai over an allegation of rape made on him by a physiotherapist.
Medical Dialogues team earlier reported that a neurosurgeon, owner of a private clinic in Akota who was on the run after the physiotherapist who had been working in his clinic for the past 3-4 years came out making allegations of rape on him.
The physiotherapist alleged that the doctor built close relations with her during work and in 2014 he called her in his cabin. She claimed that the doctor made a fake promise to her that he will divorce his wife and marry her.
She further alleged that the doctor continued to have physical relations with her for three to four years. When she refused to give up on his demand, he allegedly threatened to make her intimate photos viral. The doctor also threatened her to finish off her career if she mentioned the case to anyone.
The woman then filed a complaint in JP Road police station after which he was booked under the relevant section of IPC against the doctor was registered.
The doctor was on the run after the complaint was registered. The detection of crime branch (DCB) nabbed the doctor from a flat in the Malabar Hill area, Mumbai after which he was brought to the city on Monday.
Jaideepsinh Jadeja, DCP (crime) informed the Mirror Now, the accused doctor was held from Malabar Hill in Mumbai on Monday night and brought to Vadodara. He was produced in the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate JG Shah, who remanded him in police custody till February 25.
The police had sought his remand to gather more details about the case and interrogated the accused doctor. He was also been accused of circulating the rape survivor’s obscene photos on social media, reports TOI.
