The pharmaceutical giant, Pfizer says that its drug availability will not be affected, as this plant was not contributing to the growth of Pfizer since 2013
With effect from September 16, 2015 the Navi Mumbai plant of Pfizer, situated exactly at Thane Belapur Road, will be shut down operationally. Due to the lack of a viable unit, and with practically no production at the plant since October 2013, the decision has been evaluated carefully by the pharmaceutical giant. In a filing to BSE, Pfizer Ltd said that "the company has intimated the concerned authorities that it intends to effect closure of its plant situated at Thane Belapur Road,... Navi Mumbai with effect from September 16, 2015".
