Prostitution Racket: 74 year old man claiming to be retired AIIMS doctor arrested, Probe underway
Pune: A 74-year old man, claiming to be a retired doctor from AIIMS, along with an alliance have been arrested for allegedly being involved in a prostitution racket running in the city.
According to media reports, police officials received information in connection to the sex racket running in the region. The accused doctor followed a regular modus operundi of showing pictures through mobile phones to invite customers. Based on the choice of the customers a room was then booked in a five-star hotel with help from the co-suspect.
Following the tip-off, Police Crime Branch Unit II along with the Social Security Cell sleuths planted a mock customer to a five-star hotel and then conducted a raid. The police arrested the accused in the said racket.

They were arrested under sections of the Indian Penal Code and Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.
The arrested man claimed himself to be an ex-doctor from AIIMS. The assistant commissioner of police Bhanupratap Barge of Pune police crime branch, Crime 2 told the HT, "He is telling us that he is an MBBS from AIIMS. However, we are yet to verify that information."
The doctor is reported to have settled in Thane after his retirement. He was reportedly into private practice when he came in contact with the co-accused, agent from Oshiwara in Mumbai.
The agent, as per preliminary investigation, decided to use the doctor's services as he was well educated and a senior citizen, reports the TOI. She offered a commission to him to help run the sex racket in Mumbai and other cities.
The doctor used to book suits in five-star hotels for the customers and handled the money matter while other suspect, female trafficker accompanied the girls to the hotel. She is allegedly active in is active in Oshiwara, Andheri, Mumbai.
The police rescued two girls in their mid-20s, worked in small-time acting projects in south Indian states, were brought from Mumbai. They were sent to a rehabilitation home.
ACP Barge told the Mid Day, "Both the arrested persons are residents of Mumbai and their past records are being checked. The rescued women are in the age group of 25 to 30 and residents of Oshiwara and Andheri,"
