Scrub Typhus spreads across Sikkim
Gangtok: Sikkim Health Care authorities have alerted all the four District Chief Medical Officers about Scrub Typhus spreading on record and Dengue fever cases increasing.
The Director-General cum Secretary, Health Services, has directed CMOs to ensure enhancing Entomological surveillance to identify the vector of Scrub Typhus. This was preceded by a consultation meeting with Departmental officers. It has been decided to take preventive measures. Diagnosis and treatment were also discussed by the Doctors. The Panchayat level NGOs, Police, Rural Management Deptt.Urban Development Department has been requested to come forward if and when required.
Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that A 45-year-old woman died of Scrub Typhus at the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital.
The number of death at the IGMC had increased to 13 while one patient died at the Tanda Medical College in Kangra district.
