SMS hospital removes spoon from the stomach of a patient
Doctors at the SMS hospital performed a quick surgery on an elderly man who had taken the spoon inside while swallowing his medicine
Doctors at the Sawai Mansingh (SMS) hospital in Jaipur have successfully saved the damage that could have been caused to the intestine of an elderly man, after he swallowed the spoon along with his medicine the same day. The 60-yr old man is reported to be under mental treatment earlier, and was rushed to the hospital after the incident took place.
The spoon was taken out from the patient's stomach successfully, through Endoscopy, a non-surgical procedure used to examine a person's digestive tract, as confirmed by PTI.
"The spoon could have harmed his intestine but the procedure took place successfully on Saturday," Dr SS Sharma, professor in the Gastroenterology department, SMS hospital said today.
The patient was discharged the same day.
