Clash at Jorhat medical college: Doctor, 3 final year MBBS students injured in alleged attack
DoctorGuwahati: A doctor and three final-year MBBS students of Jorhat Medical College and Hospital (JMCH) allegedly were injured in a clash with a group of local youths on Friday night, September 18, 2026.
According to a recent media report by India Today, the doctor and the medicos were attacked with sharp-edged weapons during the clash, leaving them injured.

India Today NE has reported that all four received treatment at Jorhat Medical College and Hospital. Although their condition was reportedly stable, one of them is said to have sustained a serious injury to the leg. The incident prompted a large gathering of JMCH hostel residents outside the hospital. The students demanded action against those involved in the assault. Soon, police personnel reached the spot and intervened to prevent the situation from escalating further. After the main accused in the clash reportedly surrendered to the police, the situation returned to normal.

Meanwhile, local youths have alleged that the confrontation took place after an incident in which a few medical students allegedly broke beer bottles at a public place near the medical college. Police are now investigating the matter to piece together the events leading to the incident and to determine who was responsible for the alleged assault.
Medical Dialogues team had recently reported on a similar clash at the hostel of NC Medical College and Hospital. However, in that case, the clash took place between former and current MBBS students. The incident led to an FIR against six former students, who are accused of assaulting an MBBS student over an alleged old rivalry and seriously injuring another student while fleeing the campus.
