Doctor who Allegedly Poured Hot Water On Minor Domestic Help, Arrested along with wife
Guwahati - A doctor attached to Assam Medical College Hospital (AMCH) who was earlier booked for allegedly torturing a minor by pouring boiling water on him while he was sleeping, has now been arrested by the police.
Medical Dialogues had reported about the shocking incident that surfaced last month. The child was a domestic help and had been living and serving the doctor's family for one and a half years. The 12-year-old child was engrossed in sleeping when the doctor allegedly poured boiling water on him on August 31, while the doctor's wife who was a witness to the incident was accused of not providing him with medical treatment.
The incident came to light when the District Child Welfare Committee rescued the boy on August 29 after receiving a video from an anonymous source and informed the police. He is now kept in a child care center.
The police recorded his statement and registered a case against the couple under various sections of the Child and Adolescent Labour Prohibition Act and Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act.
The police had gone to the residence of the couple to interrogate them but found that the doctor, a cancer patient, was being administered saline. They had asked the two to report to the local police station at the earliest.
The couple, however, had fled and the police launched a search operation to arrest them.
