Another NEET aspirant found dead in Patna
Patna: Amid the ongoing case of a 17-year-old NEET aspirant death in Patna, another similar case of a female student dying in her hostel room in the state capital has recently been reported.
The 15-year-old girl who recently died was a NEET aspirant from Aurangabad district.
According to the police, she committed suicide in her hostel on January 6th.
In this case, the deceased's father had filed a police complaint alleging that two minors had been harassing his daughter. Following the father's complaint, one of the minors was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board and sent to a correctional facility, a police officer said.
Speaking to the IndianExpress, the deceased student's father said that she had been living in Patna for the past six months to prepare for the NEET exam. He added that the incident occurred just two days after she returned to the hostel after spending a holiday at home on January 4th.
“We spoke to her on January 4, 5 and again on the morning of January 6. She spoke to me at around 9 am that day,” her father said.
He also stated that the hostel's CCTV footage showed her brushing her teeth at 10:52 AM that day, but at around 1 PM, the hostel operator called to inform them that she had committed suicide.
Following this incident, the girl's father immediately went to the police station and filed a written complaint. In the written complaint given to the police, the girl's father stated that after receiving the information, the family went to the hostel and later to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH), where the police had taken her.
“When we reached PMCH, her body was lying in the emergency ward, and doctors told us she had been declared dead,” the complaint said.
The father alleged that his daughter had been harassed by two young men living nearby. He said, "She was very disturbed because of the harassment. My daughter was forced to take this step”.
Meanwhile, a police officer said that during the investigation, they found that one of the accused, identified as a minor, was in constant contact with the girl. The officer stated that the minor accused was regularly communicating with the girl. Based on the father's complaint, the minor was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board and sent to a correctional facility.
He further stated that the investigation is ongoing. The official also said that the post-mortem examination confirmed "death by hanging."
