Bihar Govt Approves 7 New Medical Colleges

Bihar- In a huge step towards healthcare and medical education in Bihar, the state government has recently approved setting up seven new government medical colleges and hospitals.
This decision is a step towards its commitment to open a medical college in every district of the state.
The new government medical colleges and hospitals will be set up in Kishanganj, Katihar, Rohtas, Sheohar, Lakhisarai, Arwal and Sheikhpura districts of Bihar. The proposal to set up these medical colleges has recently been approved by the Bihar government. Once operational, these institutes will ensure that every district of the state has a medical college and hospital.
Meanwhile, 20 new medical colleges are under construction in districts like Jamui, Buxar, Siwan, Ara, Vaishali, Begusarai, Madhubani, Sitamarhi, Supaul and Munger. Also, a second AIIMS is coming up in Darbhanga, reports Millenium Post.
.The foundation stone of this new All India Institute of Medical Sciences AIIMS was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in November 2024
At present, there are 12 government medical colleges and hospitals in Bihar, which has increased to 15 after the inclusion of three centrally run institutions, i.e. AIIMS Patna, ESIC Medical College Bihta and IGIMS Patna. The existing operational colleges include PMCH, NMCH, DMCH Darbhanga, ANMMCH Gaya, JLNMCH Bhagalpur, SKMCH Muzaffarpur, GMC Bettiah, Jananayak Karpuri Thakur Medical College Madhepura, GMC Purnia, BMIMS Nalanda, RJMCH Samastipur and GMC Chhapra.
