Bihar: Orthopaedics senior resident doctor booked after MBBS intern alleges sexual assault attempt
Gaya: An MBBS intern at Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College and Hospital (ANMMCH), Gaya, has reportedly accused a senior resident doctor of allegedly forcing her to consume alcohol before taking her to Bodh Gaya and attempting to sexually assault her.
According to Prabhat Khabar, the senior resident from the Orthopaedics Department at the medical college has been booked in connection with the incident after the police registered an FIR against him based on the complaint filed by the intern.
The alleged incident reportedly took place on August 21, when the intern was on duty at the Orthopaedics OPD, and the accused allegedly took her mobile number. Later that evening, at around 5:40 pm, the doctor allegedly called the intern and pressured her to accompany him to a party in Bodh Gaya, reports the daily.

The intern told police that she was made to consume alcohol after reaching Bodh Gaya. She further alleged that the doctor subsequently took her to his room in the Super Speciality Block of the medical college, where he attempted to sexually assault her. The intern reportedly resisted and repeatedly asked to be allowed to leave.
According to her statement, after she continued to protest and cry, the accused eventually left her near her hostel in a distraught condition.
As per a local media report by Prabhat Khabar, Magadh Medical Police Station SHO Sudeh Kumar said that an FIR has been registered based on the intern's statement under sections related to molestation and other offences. Police said the allegations are being investigated.
During the initial investigation, the police also reportedly got information that talks were going on between the two parties regarding a mutual agreement.
The police are currently examining the circumstances surrounding the alleged incident as part of the investigation.
