Chandigarh: 24x7 Doctor Consultation service starts at GMSH 16
Chandigarh: In an attempt to provide continuous medical aid to patients, the UT Health Department has started a 24x7 Doctors Consultations service through the doctors available in the Central Control Room established at Government Multi-Specialty Hospital (GMSH) 16 Chandigarh. This service is made available to the Patients free of cost and is also functional 24x7.
If a patient seeks a teleconsultation, he or she has to register on esanjeevaniopd.in or download the eSanjeevani OPD app on their iOS and Android mobile phone. Under this initiative, Video Consultation with a Doctor is available free of cost. Moreover, an Instant messaging (text-based) prescription system and SMS Notifications Serviced by Doctors employed are also available, reports TOI.
This is a Free Service (managed jointly by U.T., Chandigarh & MoHFW, Govt of India). Telemedicine allows people to access professional healthcare advice in the comfort and privacy of their own homes. Thus both the time and the money that one invests in seeking medical consultation are saved. It is an effective way of ensuring that there is no overcrowding of medical facilities in the state.
National Teleconsultation Service of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is a first-of-its-kind online OPD service offered by a country's government to its citizens. National Teleconsultation Service aims to provide healthcare services to patients in their homes. Safe and structured video-based clinical consultations between a doctor in a hospital and a patient in the confines of his home are being enabled.
eSanjeevaniOPD is based on eSanjeevani - Government of India's flagship telemedicine technology developed by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (Mohali). eSanjeevani - a doctor to doctor telemedicine system is being deployed nationally for the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare at 155,000 Health and Wellness Centres under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme of the Government of India.
Government Multi-Specialty Hospital, Sector 16, Chandigarh earlier known as General Hospital, is the oldest hospital in the city. This 500 bedded hospital has 24 hrs round clock emergency and indoor facilities manned by specialists.
