Delhi AIIMS to Launch Day Care Facility for EHS Patients
New Delhi: The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) is set to inaugurate a specialized daycare centre for beneficiaries of the Employees Health Scheme (EHS) at the National Centre for Ageing. The facility, scheduled to commence operations on July 31, will be available daily from 8 AM to 8 PM.
This dedicated centre aims to offer extensive services tailored specifically for EHS beneficiaries, ensuring they receive prompt and efficient medical attention without affecting the overall patient care at AIIMS.
Under the EHS scheme, employees and their dependents gain access to comprehensive healthcare services, relieving them of financial burdens associated with medical treatments. Officials highlighted that this initiative is in response to the increasing need for specialized daycare services among AIIMS employees and their families, many of whom are elderly.
An AIIMS official explained that the decision to launch this service was motivated by the fact that a significant proportion of EHS patients are senior citizens, necessitating more accessible and targeted medical care. “The escalating need for these specialised services has resulted in longer waiting times and reduced availability of routine care slots, affecting the overall quality and accessibility of healthcare for EHS patients,” he added.
AIIMS Director Dr M. Srinivas emphasized that the new facility represents a significant step toward delivering high-quality, accessible, and patient-focused care for senior EHS beneficiaries. Dr Rima Dada, in charge of the media cell, told the Times of India, “The launch of the facility is a testament to AIIMS’s ongoing efforts to enhance patient care and support for its employees and their families.”
This move is expected to alleviate the pressure on the existing facilities and ensure a more streamlined and efficient healthcare experience for AIIMS employees and their eligible dependents. The center will be situated in the National Center for Ageing and it was established in 1974 to improve the health and well-being of older adults through research. It conducts and supports genetic, biological, behavioural, social, and economic research on ageing and the challenges and needs of older adults.
