Delhi businessman allegedly duped of Rs 32 lakh over promise of MD radiology seat at DY Patil Medical College Pune, accused booked

New Delhi: In a recent incident of alleged admission fraud, a Delhi-based businessman has claimed that he was cheated of Rs 32 lakh after being promised an MD Radiology seat for his doctor son through the management quota in DY Patil Medical College, Pune.
Following the complaint, the Vasant Kunj South police have registered an FIR against a self-proclaimed career counsellor based on the complaint filed by the businessman.
As per the complaint, the businessman's son had appeared for NEET-PG 2025 and secured 108 marks. While looking for postgraduate admission opportunities, the family came in contact with a doctor through one of the student's friends.

The accused allegedly introduced himself as a career counsellor and claimed that he had strong connections with DY Patil Medical College, Pune. He reportedly assured the family that he could secure an MD Radiology seat under the management quota and asked the family for money to block the seat.
As a result, the complainant transferred Rs 5 lakh on November 11, 2025. Later, the accused allegedly demanded additional payments, citing different stages of counselling and seat confirmation requirements.
The complainant paid another Rs 5 lakh on February 16, 2026, and subsequently transferred more money through various online transactions. Altogether, Rs 32 lakh was allegedly transferred to the accused.
Despite repeated assurances, the doctor failed to secure admission by the end of the counselling process. The student eventually took admission in another medical college.
When the complainant sought a refund, the accused allegedly delayed the matter and gradually stopped responding. Following a police complaint and preliminary inquiry, an FIR was registered.
Live Hindustan reported that the police have registered a case under Sections 318(4) and 316(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and are currently investigating the case.
