IIT Delhi Launches Healthcare Product Development Programme

New Delhi: In a major initiative aimed at strengthening India’s healthcare innovation ecosystem, IIT Delhi has launched an online Post Graduate Diploma in Healthcare Product Development and Management. Tailored for professionals in biomedical engineering, biotechnology, life sciences, and medicine, the programme is designed to equip learners with the interdisciplinary skills needed to develop transformative healthcare solutions.
Offered by the Centre for Biomedical Engineering (CBME), IIT Delhi, the 12-month programme blends biomedical innovation, regulatory science, product lifecycle management, and commercial strategy. With live sessions by top IIT faculty and optional campus immersion, it provides a holistic, application-driven learning experience for professionals aspiring to lead in healthcare R&D, product design, and clinical innovation.
IIT Delhi has launched three online Post Graduate Diploma programmes in Healthcare Product Development and Management, Electric Vehicle (EV) Technology and Advanced Communication Engineering with Quantum and AI Integration for students and professionals.
The programmes will witness interactive online sessions conducted by IIT Delhi’s distinguished faculty in collaboration with leading industry experts. The three programmes offer affiliate alumni status from IIT Delhi, enhancing long-term academic association and access to continued learning resources.
Speaking about the launch of the online PG Diploma programmes by the Institute, Prof Rangan Banerjee, Director, IIT Delhi, said, "At IIT Delhi, we remain committed to expanding access to world-class education and driving innovation across emerging fields. The launch of our Online Post Graduate Diploma Programmes marks a significant step in this direction. These programmes are designed to equip professionals with the knowledge, skills, and interdisciplinary insights required to address some of the most pressing challenges of our time."

PG Diploma in Healthcare Product Development and Management:
The comprehensive 12-month programme is offered by the Centre for Biomedical Engineering (CBME), IIT Delhi, and is designed to equip professionals with the technical expertise and multidisciplinary capabilities needed to design, develop, and bring to market transformative healthcare solutions.
At the heart of this programme lies an integrated curriculum encompassing biomedical innovation, regulatory science, product lifecycle management, and commercial strategy—equipping learners with a holistic, application-oriented education. There will be an optional two-day campus immersion to enrich networking and academic exchange.
The program is open to candidates with relevant undergraduate or postgraduate degrees or those with a minimum of two years of industry experience in allied fields.
This program is particularly suitable for professionals with backgrounds in biomedical engineering, biotechnology, healthcare, life sciences, or medicine who are looking to pivot their careers into healthcare R&D, product management, or regulatory domains.
Speaking about the programme, Prof. Arnab Chanda, Programme Coordinator and Associate Professor, Centre for Bio-Medical Engineering, IIT Delhi, said, “Our vision for this programme is rooted in translational impact. We are nurturing interdisciplinary thinkers who can reimagine healthcare products by merging technology, design, and clinical relevance.”
The online PG Diploma programmes will be conducted by the Continuing Education Programme (CEP), a statutory body at IIT Delhi. Prof. Manav Bhatnagar, Head of CEPQIP, stated that these high-growth programmes address the rising demand for skilled professionals. Designed to blend IIT Delhi’s academic excellence with online flexibility, they offer a transformative learning experience through live faculty-led sessions, real-world projects, and structured evaluations for working professionals in India and beyond.
