Doctor marked on duty despite being on tour abroad: PGIMS recommends police proceedings against Orthopaedic doctor
While investigating the issue, the authority found out that he accompanied the boxers of the NBA in several foreign tours without informing the hospital authority or securing permission from them. The authorities also shockingly found that while the accused doctor was attending his tours, his attendance was marked as present in the hospital register.
Rohtak: Taking strict action against the resident doctor at Pt. BDS Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS Rohtak) for allegedly violating the duty guidelines of the institute, the hospital administration has recommended police proceedings against the medico after conducting a detailed inquiry.
This came after the hospital authorities found that the doctor was on several tours without due permission but despite this, his duty hours at the hospital were marked as present.
According to the PGIMS authorities, the doctor, a PG medical student attached to the Orthopaedic Department has violated the hospital regulations and misappropriated funds working with National Boxing Academy (NBA). The administration has approached the police seeking a criminal investigation citing alleged irregularities, misappropriation of funds, misrepresentation and concealments of facts, criminal conspiracy and forgery by the doctor.

As per a recent report by Tribune, an inquiry was conducted by the Deputy Medical Superintendent (DMS), Dr Sandeep Yadav in the matter. His inquiry report stated that the accused doctor "joined as a resident, PG (Ortho), at the PGIMS in May 2017 and has been getting stipend regularly since his joining. He is also serving as a visiting faculty at SAI, NBA, Rohtak, since April 2018. He received an honorarium from the NBA till March 2020. During the time span, he visited abroad three-four times along with boxing teams."

Meanwhile, PGIMS Director Dr Rohtas Kanwar also sought strict action against the doctor. According to him, the doctor was involved in the activities of both of the organizations. In fact, all of his expenses of the visit, including lodging fees were paid by the NBA. NBA also paid $25 allowance to the doctor during the foreign tours. According to the guidelines, a doctor can not serve two organizations while receiving a fee from both.
Hence, criminal charges are bought against the doctor. Mr Yadav told Tribune "We will take action against the doctor as per the opinion of the legal cell."Any statement is yet to be secured from the Accused doctor regarding the allegations.
