Haryana: CM Khattar grants approval to cover ASHA workers under Ayushman Bharat scheme
Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has granted formal administrative approval to cover ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) workers under Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY).
Giving this information here on Monday, Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij said that the Chief Minister had declared in a meeting held on July 27, 2021, regarding Ayushman Bharat Bima Yojana Scheme and other health insurance schemes that 'Vimukt Ghumantu Jati', Mukhyamantri Parivar Samridhi Yojana and workers engaged in construction work will also be covered under Ayushman Bharat Scheme.

Along with this, Numberdars, Chowkidars, ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, MGNREGA workers, street vendors, rickshaw drivers, and auto drivers will also be covered under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, he informed.
Vij further informed that the National Health Mission, Haryana has allocated Rs 248.11 lakh to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to implement this project (Project Implementation Plan 2022-23) to cover ASHA workers in the Ayushman Bharat scheme for which the proposal has already been sent to the Central Government.

He said that if the Union Government does not sanction an amount of Rs 248.11 lakh to implement this project, then in that case the financial year 2022-23 and afterward this amount will be made available from the State Plan Budget.
Ayushman Bharat (AB) is an attempt to move from a sectoral and segmented approach of health service delivery to a comprehensive need-based health care service. Ayushman Bharat aims to undertake path-breaking interventions to holistically address health (covering prevention, promotion, and ambulatory care), at primary, secondary, and tertiary levels. Ayushman Bharat adopts a continuum of care approach, comprising of two inter-related components.
