Haryana districts to soon get National Mobile Medical Units: Health Minister
Chandigarh: Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij said that soon all the 22 districts of the State are going to get National Mobile Medical Units, which can also be termed as 'Mini Hospitals on Wheels' in a way.
He said that apart from admitting patients in these units, there are other facilities, including OPD facility, fully operated laboratory, oxygen facility, testing facility etc. These mobile units will go to the villages and towns of the State within a stipulated time period and will provide health facilities to the people.
A total of 47 mobile units will be functional in the State and each district will have two mobile units, Vij said while presiding over a meeting with the officers of the Health Department and the officials of the Haryana Civil Medical Service Association here on Thursday.
He said that container testing space, vaccination space, pharmacy space and laboratory space have also been provided in the mobile units. Intercom facility has also been provided in these units for communication between the driver and other personnel. The units also include generator, LED TV, medical equipment like emergency kit along with nebulizer, stretcher among others. Similarly, they also have a video camera and a GPS system.
The Minister directed the officers of the Health Department to set up one more Genome Sequencing Machine in the state. He said that this machine is proposed to be installed at Panchkula to cater to the districts of North Haryana. It was informed in the meeting that 140 cases were sent for sequencing of genome in the Genome Sequencing Machine installed at Rohtak, out of which 6 cases of Omicron have been confirmed while others are of different variants.
He gave instructions to the officers to arrange anti-viral drug. The Minister was informed that a committee has been constituted regarding the purchase of antiviral drug Molnupiravir and will soon take a decision on it. Similarly, Vij directed the officers to take up the task of transporting essential medicines related to Corona such as Remdesivir to the field so that any emergency can be dealt with. It was informed in the meeting that adequate quantity of medicines and other equipment and tools related to COVID are available with the Health Department.
In the meeting, the Minister instructed the officers to increase COVID testing as increase in the testing will help in preventing the spread of Corona. On this, Vij was apprised that at present about 44,000 tests are being done per day. Subsequently, the Minister directed the officials to enhance the testing capacity to more than 50,000 tests per day.
