Haryana: Nursing home owner arrested for allegedly running Illegal Abortion Racket
Yamunanagar: The owner of a Yamunanagar-based Nursing Home has been arrested for allegedly running an illegal abortion racket that was busted in Haryana by the District Health and Family Welfare department officials.
A raid was conducted at the nursing home following a tip-off by Dr JP Prasad on March 16th. Acting on the same, Dr Vijay, civil surgeon, formed a team of deputy civil surgeons including Dr JP Prasad and Dr Rajesh Parmar and planned to send a decoy patient to the nursing home. accordingly, the patient asked at the hospital to conduct an illegal abortion on her.
As per Dr Prasad, the owner of the nursing home allegedly demanded Rs 16000 for conducting the abortion but the patient submitted Rs 3000 as an advance payment. The woman (owner) of the nursing home took Rs 3,000 from the decoy patient for allegedly conducting an illegal abortion.
As soon as the hospital accepted Rs 3000 as an advance payment for conducting the abortion, the health department's team conducted a raid and recovered the amount which the Nursing Home accepted from the decoy patient.
The team after investigation also found that the accused lacked the necessary qualification needed to practice as a doctor.
Dr Prasad told the daily, "As soon as the owner of the nursing home took Rs 3,000 from the decoy, the team conducted a raid at the nursing home. The team recovered Rs 3,000 from the drover of a table at the nursing home. Our team recovered English medicines of eight types, implements used for abortion, and a register from the said property."
