Haryana: Villagers refuse to sell land for AIIMS project in Rewari for Rs 30 lakh
Rewari: The residents of the districts of Majra and Bhalkhi villages have outrightly refused to sell their land to the district administration in search of an alternative site for All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), for the government rate fixed at Rs 30 lakh per acre on Friday.
Instead, the residents are adamant not to agree on a deal that is anywhere below Rs 50 lakh per acre of the land.
This comes after a team from the Centre made their visit to the two villages inspecting the area and declared it to be suitable for the scheduled project.
As per recent media accounts, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Yashendra Singh has directed the officers visiting the site of the two villages, Majra and Bhalkhi, to file their objections within 24 hours, if any.

On the other hand, the AIIMS Sangharsh Samiti is calling out the fast-paced search of an alternative site as a "pressure tactic". The spokesperson of the Samiti, Rajender Singh Nimoth told The Tribune, "The Samiti will not let the district administration succeed in its plan. The demand for 50 lakh per acre is justified. The Samiti will launch an agitation if the project is shifted to any other place."
In addition, he also made it clear that the Samiti members are prepared to demonstrate a collective dharna on November 7 asserting their demands against the search for an alternative against the befitting of Majra and Bhalkhi villages.
Meanwhile, the DC along with his officers went on a hunt for an alternative on Thursday at Khaliawas and Kharkara villages near Masani Barrage viewing the 503 acres belonging to the Irrigation Department among the others. The district administration is considering 224 acres for the project at hand.
One of the officers told the daily, " The state government is serious about executing the project at the earliest. It wants to construct AIIMS in Majra and Bhalkhi villages on priority. Having said that, the state is still looking for other sites in case there are any hurdles in finalizing the site situated in the two villages."
He also added that further discussions on the matter will take place in a meeting of concerned officers on Friday.
