Rohtak MBBS Exam Scam Probe: 4 batches of Private Medical College Students under scanner
Rohtak- A new revelation has emerged in the MBBS exam scam at Pandit BD Sharma University of Health Sciences, Rohtak (UHSR), with students of four consecutive batches of a private medical college now under the radar in the investigation. During police interrogation, one of the main accused revealed the involvement of students from 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023 batches, revealing a deeper nexus of academic fraud.
During interrogation, the accused admitted that students from 2020 to 2023 batch were involved in the scam. Deals were struck with the students directly or through middlemen to ensure favourable exam results. The accused also admitted that deals were struck for 34 subjects from the 2021 to 2023 batch, however successful manipulation took place in only 18 of those subjects.
Further, the accused claimed that 10 students from the 2021 batch and four from the 2022 batch paid Rs 2 lakh per subject through a middleman in what was termed as the “direct system”, a method manipulating the prize list just before the declaration of results.
Speaking to Tribune Media news report on this, an official said that the supplementary exam answer sheets of six students of the 2020 batch and five students of the 2021 batch were rewritten using erasable pens. These answer sheets were smuggled out on the day of the exam itself, rechecked at the home of a UHSR employee and later resubmitted to the university secretly.
The official further said that a student of the 2020 batch allegedly passed a subject through rechecking after paying Rs 2 lakh to a class IV employee in the university's confidentiality branch. "In addition, the accused collected Rs 2 lakh each from three students of the 2021 batch and two students of the 2022 batch through fellow students acting as middlemen. All these students were allegedly passed using the 'direct system' method," he added.
