BSc Nursing Student Death: Mandi Police Registers murder Case
Himachal Pradesh- More than 2 weeks ago, a case of murder of a BSc Nursing student was reported from Himachal Pradesh. In this case, the police have now registered a case 17 days after the incident. The FIR in this case was registered at Sundernagar police station on Sunday.
The victim was identified as Thakur, a BSc nursing student at Aroma Nursing College, Sundernagar, Mandi. She was found dead after falling from the hostel under suspicious circumstances. However, the family suspected that their daughter did not die due to the fall but was murdered. Therefore, the victim's family was demanding a thorough investigation into the incident and alleging that her death was a planned murder.
Regarding the case, speaking to Tribune India, social activist BR Koondel criticised “the delay in registering the case, which came 17 days after ***death. Such delays in registering an FIR in serious cases could be viewed as contempt of court”. He also added, “The charges of destroying evidence and concealing information could be added to the case as investigations continue”.
Meanwhile, Mandi SP Sakshi Verma said “the FIR had been filed based on the family’s complaint”. With this, the SP also assured that a thorough investigation is being conducted to uncover the truth behind the death. As the investigation progresses, the society is hoping for justice in this case. Also, the allegations of the family members will also be investigated.
