Chamba's Medical College MBBS interns in fatal car accident, 1 dead, 1 missing, 2 injured

Himachal Pradesh- In an unfortunate incident, an MBBS student died, his classmate went missing, and two others were injured when their car fell into the Ravi River at Parel in Chamba district on the Chamba-Pathankot National Highway early on Sunday.
As per media reports, the accident occurred around 2:30 am when four MBBS interns of Chamba Medical College and Hospital in Himachal Pradesh were returning to their hostel. They were interns at Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Government Medical College (PJNGMC), Chamba.
Akhilesh, 25, a resident of Hamirpur district, died on the spot, while Ishika, 24, a resident of Rohru in Shimla district, was swept away by the river's strong current. Police were informed of the incident, and a search operation was immediately launched, but the missing intern has not yet been located.
According to TOI media news report, an official said that the injured intern, Rishant, 26, from Shimla district and Divyank, 23, from Solan district, have been admitted to the hospital and their condition is currently stable. However, the exact cause of the accident is not yet clear.
Meanwhile, Chamba Superintendent of Police Abhishek Yadav said, "An FIR has been registered and an investigation has been launched. The search for the missing intern is ongoing."

Earlier this month, Medical Dialogues reported that a 22-year-old MBBS student died in Baramati, Maharashtra. The medico was identified as a third-year MBBS student of Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Government Medical College, Baramati. She was returning to the college hostel on her scooty with her friend. While riding, she suddenly lost control at a speed breaker, and the scooter hit the divider. Subsequently, she suffered serious injuries and died on the spot; her friend suffered minor injuries. The medico was also a national-level shooter.
