CM Sukhu assures stipend hike for Dentists pursuing MD Courses

Stipend
Shimla: The State of Himachal Pradesh will soon increase the stipends of super-speciality doctors and dental doctors pursuing MD courses, informed Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.
While presiding over the inter-college event 'Eruption-2025' at HP Government Dental College, Shimla, on Friday, the CM mentioned that the State Government has already hiked stipends and increased the allowance for MD doctors from Rs 60,000 to Rs 1 lakh.
"Similarly, stipends of super-speciality doctors and dental doctors pursuing MD will also be hiked," he added.

According to the latest media report by The Economic Times, the Chief Minister also emphasized the importance of improving healthcare. He said, "A patient's illness worsens without proper treatment, so ensuring timely and accurate care is essential."
He also mentioned that the State Government is set to invest Rs 1,100 crore in upgrading the medical colleges. He added that equipment similar to that in AIIMS is being brought to the State medical colleges, and within three months, PET Scan and 3-Tesla MRI machines will be installed in the medical colleges of the State.
Sukhu emphasized that major transformations in healthcare will be visible within a year. He also highlighted the need for financial prudence and mentioned that while the previous BJP Government misused the resources of the State, the current Government was committed to ensure development by saving every penny.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that in a major move to address the shortage of medical specialists within the State, the Himachal Pradesh Government had announced a stipend hike for doctors, ranging from 50% to 170%. Due to the stipend hike, the Senior Residents and tutor specialists now get Rs 1 lakh per month, which has been increased from the earlier allowance of Rs 60,000- Rs 65,000. Meanwhile, the super specialists' stipend was raised to Rs 1.30 lakh.
This decision was aimed at making government service more appealing to skilled medical professionals and filling up the 376 vacant specialist posts across the State's medical colleges. The Government also announced that doctors on study leave would continue to draw full pay, further incentivising retention and career growth.
